Adair Poyer
Public Health and Community Partnerships Intern
Adair Poyer is a third year student at UVA majoring in Biology and Cognitive Sciences with a concentration in linguistics. Her background includes working in leadership positions of community service groups including Health Link Society & Challah for Hunger and public health organizations such as Friends of Médecins Sans Frontières and Remote Area Medical. She also has worked as a medical assistant in Obstetrics and Gynecology and conducted research studying the spread of bacterial diseases such as E. coli and Yersinia Pestis, factors impacting the development of Xenopus laevis embryos, and how oral contraceptives impact the neurobiology of adolescent women. She also has a passion for learning languages, particularly German and Spanish. In her future, Adair hopes to pursue a career in Obstetrics and Gynecology and to broaden accessibility to healthcare for rural communities, immigrants & refugees, and internationally.
