Health as Global Solidarity: Volunteer Trips

What’s next?

Sisters Project Peru departs for Huacahuasi on August 16th! For live updates during our trip, make sure to follow our Instagram. In the meantime, subscribe to our newsletter to learn more about what goes into our trip preparation, our goals for the program, and so much more!

Overview

  • Every August, Sisters Project Peru returns to Huacahuasi for a week of service, reflection, and collaboration.

  • During our time in Huacahuasi, we facilitate educational workshops on topics such as anemia and dental hygiene, meet with community members to discuss progress on previous projects, and reflect as a group on our interaction with the community.

  • These trips also allow us to connect in-person with the Peruvian Ministry of Health, meetings which have proven vital to securing progress on our clinic.

Purpose behind the project

Our volunteer trips to Huacahuasi represent an opportunity to provide in-person support for developing projects, introduce members of Sisters Project Peru to the community with which they are collaborating, and get feedback on how we can serve as better partners to the Huacahuasi community. The week we spend annually in Huacahuasi allows us to ___ and return inspired with new insight on how we can connect the community of Huacahuasi with the resources they need to develop sustainable, self-driven solutions to healthcare barriers.
