Anaïs Naish

Anaïs Naish is a third-year student studying Global Development Studies and Medical Anthropology at the University of Virginia, and Co-President of the UVA SPP Chapter. She discovered her passion for civil engagement and human rights while living abroad in Brussels, Belgium. Despite living under a universal health care system in Belgium, she still witnessed language and class disparities in health literacy across the population. She plans to attend law school to focus on healthcare and public health policy, aiming to disrupt systemic inequities and encourage more concrete grassroots solutions. Outside of SPP, Anaïs oversees membership for the Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law fraternity and coordinates events to ensure that all students have access to pre-law services and guidance. She is also a student leader with Team Awareness Combating Overdose (TACO), where she raises harm reduction awareness and education by distributing Narcan (Naloxone) and fentanyl test strips in the Charlottesville community. In hopes of making more time for her love for art, Anaïs is also part of the Ceramics Club at UVA. She looks forward to continuing to promote the socio-economic injustices in Peru, and inspire more of the Charlottesville community to become involved with advocacy for indigenous groups around the world.
