Christopher Carter
Christopher Carter, a freshman at Virginia Tech and member of the Honors College, is pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering with the goal of applying STEM to improve lives. He leads summer STEM camps for youth, fostering curiosity and hands-on problem-solving in the next generation. His journey with Sisters Project Peru began after a 2023 school trip to Spain sparked a love for travel and cross-cultural connection, ultimately drawing him to the organization’s mission. In 2024, he traveled to Huacahuasi, Peru, on SPP’s annual service trip, where he helped teach children about dental hygiene, conducted anemia testing, and experienced firsthand the challenges of rural healthcare access. The trip was eye-opening and strengthened his determination to work even harder toward expanding healthcare opportunities in underserved communities. At Virginia Tech, Chris is eager to share his passion for service and inspire others to join SPP’s mission. Outside of school, he enjoys kicking around a soccer ball, playing the guitar, and backpacking on the Appalachian Trail.
