Health and Dental Education
Our Holistic Approach to Healthcare
In 2025, we donated 2,000 toothbrushes and 250 tubes of toothpaste. This was enough to supply the entire community with dental hygiene products for a full year.
Dental hygiene is a vital part of preventive healthcare. Regular brushing helps prevent cavities, infections, and gum disease, issues that affect nutrition, growth, and overall well-being. Because oral bacteria can influence heart health, diabetes, and other conditions, good dental care protects the whole body. Simple daily habits can prevent painful and costly issues, making dental hygiene one of the most effective and accessible ways to stay healthy.
In Hucahuasi, nearly every community member experiences a preventable dental issue. Our goal is to educate and empower children, adolescents, and parents to practice consistent daily dental care, reducing their risk of serious health complications and supporting long-term well-being.
The region’s women and children suffer from alarmingly high rates of cavities, tooth decay, and gingivitis.
We believe that good dental hygiene and preventive care are essential foundations of overall health. That’s why, in June 2026, we’ll be bringing a team of doctors and dentists to the community to share their skills and medical expertise.
During this visit, we’ll provide dental cleanings, dental education workshops, and physical exams for school-aged children—supporting healthier futures through early, accessible care.
In August 2026 we’ll be taking a group of student’s and volunteers on a service trip.
