Sisters Project Peru is Returning This August – Join Us in Supporting the Huacahuasi Community

We are thrilled to announce that Sisters Project Peru is heading back to Peru this August!

Our mission is to empower women and enhance the well-being of all Huacahuasi community members of the community in their self-determination to seek healthcare access Currently, residents must endure a three-hour hike to the nearest clinic — a trip that is difficult to make even for healthy individuals.

This journey is especially perilous for the elderly, children, and pregnant women. Our focus for this trip is for volunteers to understand the community realities on the ground and lay the groundwork for phase 1 of designing, contracting, and constructing a future health clinic to alleviate the community’s  medical challenges.

Our fundraising goal is set at $5,000 before January 1, 2026. We know that achieving this goal requires more than donations; it requires  deep participation and capacity building  to ensure the clinic will be a beacon of hope and health for generations to come.

On previous trips, your donations have made possible:

  • Dental hygiene classes for adults and children as well as dental hygiene supplies for classrooms and community spaces.

  • Lucky Iron Fish purchases.

    • *Lucky Iron Fish is a simple cooking tool that adds fortified iron into the diet, which is important to mitigating the high levels of iron-deficient anemia in the community.

  • Funds to organize and build 3 greenhouse cooperatives that have since grown over 50 lettuces, onions, cauliflowers, beets, and swiss chard plants.

Our trip this August will focus on strengthening our connections with the community, collecting feedback for clinic design and construction, and assessing programming needs to adapt and strengthen our work.

For transparency, here is a brief overview of our itinerary.
