Health as Access: Dental Hygiene Project

What’s next?

We have continued collecting toothbrushes for our upcoming trip to Huacahuasi (August 2025). We also plan to hold another dental hygiene workshop in the Huacahuasi schools and with community members during our time there.

Overview

  • As another dimension of Sisters Project Peru’s commitment to increasing healthcare access, we launched a Dental Hygiene initiative.

  • The project included a successful toothbrush drive of 2000 toothbrushes, 250 toothpaste tubes, and a dental hygiene workshop taught in the schools and general community.

Purpose behind the project

The Dental Hygiene Project sought to provide community members with physical resources for and accessible information on dental hygiene processes. The goal of this initiative was to help combat preventable health issues like dental disease and gingivitis, which can pose serious risks without access to dental health resources.
